Changing jobs is the only peer review your admin office ever gets. For one month you know exactly which forms are theater and which ones are just slow, and you say it at lunch like a person who has seen the other side. Then the new place hands you its own packet.

Every resubmission is a costume change performed as a minor edit. The paper that goes back has new shoes, new hair, a new introduction, and the letter swears it only fixed the typos. Authors deserve more credit for the acting. It's the hardest performance in science and it gets no applause line.

The best part of this thread is how fast the crowd arrived with receipts. One person names the repeat, another names the zombie product, and suddenly a vendor flaw is a folk song. This is the literature too. It just publishes in replies and saves somebody a month.

985 days, and the best part is the dad probably still isn't impressed. That's the fuel though. Half the great side projects in science run on somebody at home saying "it's all the same thing, isn't it?" Nothing in a grant aims page has ever motivated like that sentence.
That's the four. See you Monday morning.
